A new website to connect with community - Sydney, NSW

Dharug Ngurra Aboriginal Corporation (DNAC) is focused on bringing their community together and is working to protect, preserve and celebrate their language, lands, arts, and culture.

They aim to do this through promoting Dharug culture to the wider community, preserving Dharug family stories for future generations and creating safety and security for Aboriginal people through economic and cultural development.

DNAC established an online presence to connect to the community. They approached Community First Development to assist in developing a professional website to inform stakeholders, supporters, and the wider community about their activities, opportunities, and programs available for community members.

DNAC had significant content to develop the website themselves but needed professional technical support. Our skilled volunteer Deb used her extensive website development and design experience to work with the DNAC board members to plan the website, consider functionality, intended audience, and messaging.

Venessa, a DNAC Director, worked behind the scenes to update editorial content from the old website. The updated editorials include significant Dharug cultural perspectives and new Director biographies. The DNAC Board then worked closely with Deb to upload the copy to the new contemporary website.

The project volunteer also worked with DNAC to provide website training. This ultimately strengthens Dharug Ngurra Aboriginal Corporation’s capacity to maintain and update the website by themselves.

This project is a powerful way for DNAC to promote its business to a wider audience and attract further support and resources.
