Desert Rhubees Creation

Desert Rhubees Creation invited Community First Development to support creating a new website.

Rhubee Neale is the proud Anmatyerre Arrernte woman behind Desert Rhubees Creation. Originally from Alice Springs (Mparntwe), Rhubee now lives in Adelaide on Kaurna Country. Rhubee’s work is deeply personal and grounded in her connection to Country and songlines. She brings stories to life through painting, writing, acting, and performing original music as a powerful way to share cultural strength and healing with audiences across Australia. Her words “even a small whisper can create change” reflect the gentle power that runs through her artistic expression. In recognition of her contributions to the arts community, Rhubee was named 2024 NAIDOC SA Creative Artist of the Year.

“I remember my mother teaching me stories through singing our Anmatjere songlines. Mum would sing songs about our family Dreamtime stories and told stories by drawing symbols in the sand and on canvas,” Rhubee Neale.

To support her growing digital presence and better showcase her body of work, Rhubee reached out to Community First Development for assistance in developing a website she could be proud of. Senior Community Development Officer Alex connected Rhubee with skilled Volunteer Julie, and they worked together to create an online platform that truly reflects Rhubee’s artistic journey. The new website shares her music, artwork, public speaking, and more – capturing her energy and creativity in one central place.

Importantly, the website also gives Rhubee a stronger platform to expand her reach and increase visibility for her work. By bringing all of her creative projects together, it helps her connect with a wider audience and create new opportunities for her work.

What an honour it was to walk alongside Rhubee in this creative project! Check out Desert Rhubees Creation’s new website at www.desertrhubeescreation.net
