International Women's Day 2023

Today, Wednesday 8 March, is the United Nations Observance of International Women’s Day. In Australia we are recognising and celebrating innovation for a gender equal future International Women’s Day | Get Involved | UN Women Australia.  

Community First Development is excited to celebrate on International Women’s Day 2023, the connection and partnership between Western Australian based Senior Community Development Officer Kristy Klynsoon and Jariah Kaissis, a Psychologist and Founder of Nagula Social & Emotional Wellbeing, a First Nations, female led and owned Social and Emotional Wellbeing business. Jariah is a Djugun Yawuru and Nyul Nyul woman born and raised in Darwin and now living in Broome. 

Nagula Social & Emotional Wellbeing located in Broome, Western Australia, provides a range of psychological support services for community members from all walks of life.  

The word Nagula means saltwater in Djugun language. The team at Nagula are passionate about supporting social and emotional wellbeing for First Nations’ people — acknowledging that everybody is unique in their experiences and needs.  

Through Nagula Social and Emotional Wellbeing, Jariah offers culturally responsive therapeutic interventions and assessments to individuals and groups. Jariah is experienced and has a passion in a number of areas, including the use of the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Framework, domestic violence therapy for women, child centred play therapy and alternative dispute resolution.
